PRP FACIAL REJUVENATION
Microneedling uses controlled micro-injuries to stimulate your skin’s natural healing process. This treatment can be performed with or without platelet-rich plasma (PRP, which is found in the blood and contains platelets and growth factors that help tissues heal and generate new cells). These growth factors speed up your body’s healing process and stimulate new collagen growth. Microneedling with PRP combines two leading-edge treatments to address skin issues including acne scars, wrinkles and sun damage. The treatment uses the body’s own healing process to rejuvenate the skin, creating a younger-looking complexion. At Peel Haus, our experts are pleased to offer PRP Facial Rejuvenation along with other skin rejuvenation options. Platelet-rich plasma can accelerate healing in many areas of the body, including hair follicles. PRP can be used to reduce hair loss and increase the diameter of hairs and the density of hair growth.
When PRP is re-introduced to the skin via microneedling, it launches a localized stem cell response. Stem cells recruit collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts in the weeks after your treatment. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin, leaving your skin more vibrant and youthful. After a few weeks, patients often notice an improvement in their skin. PRP stimulates collagen and elastin production which thickens and tightens thinning skin, effectively smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. Because it boosts collagen, it’s also a great treatment for improving overall skin texture and tone. It’s particularly good for people who suffer from rosacea or acne.
One of the best things about PRP Facial Rejuvenation is that almost anyone is a candidate for the procedure. This treatment is effective on all skin types, skin tones, and ages. Whether you are just getting started with anti-aging and skin rejuvenation, want to maintain healthy skin, or want glowing skin for an upcoming big event, this is the perfect treatment.
It may not be the best option for you if you:
Your provider will evaluate your medical history to determine if you’re a good candidate for microneedling with PRP.
PRP Facial Rejuvenation begins with a patient’s blood being drawn from your arm by your provider. The vial of blood is then placed into a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets from the rest of the blood to create platelet-rich plasma. While the PRP is being prepared, your provider will allow time for topical numbing cream to absorb into the treatment area. Then, once you are numb, your provider will perform microneedling creating micro-channels in the skin’s surface.
After microneedling, your PRP will be massaged into the treatment area to help the platelets and beneficial growth factors penetrate deep into your skin. New collagen creation reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and adds volume to plump sagging tissue. At least three monthly treatments are recommended for best anti-aging results. More treatments are needed to treat scarring and deep wrinkles.
Since you will be treated with your own nutrient-rich blood, there are minimal risks associated with PRP Facial Rejuvenation. After the treatment, you may experience minor bruising, puffiness, and redness of the skin, which will improve within 24 to 48 hours. Your provider will discuss how to care for your skin after the treatment to ensure that recovery goes as smoothly as possible. Most patients will heal in a week.
Aftercare is an important part of the healing process, which you don’t want to overlook. To ensure your skin is able to absorb all the nutrients from the plasma and guarantee the best results possible, be sure not to rinse the PRP off your face until the morning after the treatment. We strongly suggest that patients use a gentle cleanser and mild, fragrance-free moisturizer with SPF to keep the skin hydrated and protected while it is healing. Mild peeling is common after treatment. We recommend that you avoid skin products with fragrances or active ingredients for the first few days post-treatment as well. Patients are encouraged to resume their regular skin routine a week following their initial session.
