Imagine being able to transfer fat from one area of your body, such as your love handles, to enhance and lift other areas of your face and body. That’s precisely the purpose of cosmetic fat transfers in Washington DC. However, it’s not limited to your behind!
This procedure – also known as fat grafting – is a popular option for patients looking to remove fat from one area of their body to improve another. It’s performed on different body parts, such as the breast, hands, hips, legs, back, and face – allowing patients to reshape beauty on their terms.
Overview of Cosmetic Fat Transfers
With cosmetic fat transfer in Washington DC, the fat is removed with liposuction or similar processes and injected into the new area. The best part? Minimal incisions! And most patients are put under local anesthesia.
During your initial consultation, the surgeon will give you the necessary information about the areas for fat removal and injection. In addition, they’ll cover any other procedures that can be performed simultaneously, including the risks and recovery guidelines.
Cosmetic Fat Transfer Details
Cosmetic fat transfers involve two areas of your body – the donor and the injection sites. The donor site is a designated area of your body that has an ample supply of excess fat available for the injection site. The injection site is where the transfer goes.
Common donor sites include the abdomen, hips, back, thighs, flanks, and upper arms. Additionally, popular injection sites include the face, hands, and breasts.
Benefits of Cosmetic Fat Transfers
These days, many people appreciate the aesthetic benefits of fat transfers, such as:
- Lifted cheekbones
- Repaired scar tissue
- Minimized wrinkles on hands
- Reduced facial fine lines and wrinkles
- Highlighted hourglass shape of the hips
- Increased shape of their glutes and breasts
Fat transfers are becoming increasingly common because they achieve a more natural look than fillers or implants. Plus, fat transfers last longer than dermal fillers.
Ideal Candidate for Cosmetic Fat Transfer in Washington DC
If you’re considering fat grafting, having areas with excess fat for the initial donor site is important. Applicants should also be in good health and have realistic expectations of the results cosmetic treatments can produce.
And for any plastic surgery procedure, it is essential to note that smokers may not be the most suitable candidates. This limitation is because smoking hinders the healing process. Additionally, if you intend on becoming pregnant in the future, fat deposits may grow in new areas, reversing the progress of the fat transfer.
What to Expect from the Procedure
Cosmetic fat transfer in Washington DC can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours – depending on the transfer area’s size and any added treatments. Facial transfers usually take about an hour, making them a speedy procedure.
During cosmetic fat transfers, our surgeons use a gentle liposuction technique to remove excess fat from a donor site. The fat is then purified and injected into the desired area. Lastly, subtle dressings and compressions will secure both areas.
Recovery Details
Following your cosmetic fat transfer, expect at least three to five days to recover. And for larger areas, it’s common to have swelling for a few weeks. The good news? You’ll be able to return home the same day. Once you’ve had a chance to rest, you can gradually resume your regular activities.
We’ll provide pain medication to manage discomfort, whether prescribed or over-the-counter. And your doctor will schedule a follow-up appointment to assess your healing progress.
Cost of Cosmetic Fat Transfers
Like most plastic surgery procedures, the cost of cosmetic fat transfers depends on how much fat is extracted and injected. Usually, the price is in the lower thousands, but we will go over the cost in depth during your initial consultation.
FAQ
1. What’s the maximum amount of fat you can transfer from one area to another?
During the initial consultation, we will assess your body to identify a suitable donor site and evaluate the injection site to discuss potential outcomes. It’s worth noting that fat transfers are intended to enhance the injection site rather than slimming down the donor site.
2. What’s the difference between fat transfers and liposuction?
Fat grafting moves fat from one area to another to add shape and fullness. Liposuction and Lipo360 remove unwanted fat (usually in larger quantities).
3. How long do the results of a cosmetic fat transfer last?
The results can last many years when completed by expert surgeons like ours at Peel Haus.
4. What are the risks associated with cosmetic fat transfer?
Like any plastic surgery procedure, there are some possible side effects. They include bruising, swelling, temporary numbness, and scarring.
