VI PEEL
If you have wrinkles, discolored skin, acne, or scars, VI Peel can help you achieve smoother, brighter, more youthful skin. At Peel Haus Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, our experts are pleased to perform the VI Peel for patients in the Washington, DC area. We only use the best and most effective chemical peels. The chemical peel uses a solution to remove layers of skin, revealing the more youthful skin underneath. At Peel Haus, we tailor the chemical peel to the specific needs of each patient. Better skin is revealed once the peel process is completed, usually after just 7 days.
Our experts will help you determine the best chemical peel solution for you. VI Peel can be used to address the following conditions:
VI Peel is one of our most popular services at Peel Haus Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery. Patients of all skin types enjoy the flexibility of choosing a peel that is right for their skin and the noticeable results that a peel brings. If you’re considering a chemical peel, it’s important to know the specifics of what a peel is, how it works, and how it can benefit your skin.
A VI Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel that penetrates your top layer of skin called the epidermis, reaching into the dermis beneath. It uses a product trademarked by Vitality Institute Medical Products. Like other chemical peels, a VI Peel works by exfoliating your skin and stimulating the production of new proteins. The procedure is commonly used to treat signs of aging, improve skin texture, and correct pigmentary issues.
A VI Peel is made up of a blend of ingredients that include:
VI Peel is gentle enough that they can safely be used on your face, chest, eyelids, hands, and back. According to the Vitality Institute, this type of peel can be used on all skin types and tones. VI Peel can treat everything from melasma, large pores, and texture, to fine lines, acne, and acne scarring. The Peels have gone viral gaining serious buzz as some of the most effective yet gentle chemical peels on the market today. As our most versatile peel, we are able to offer 5 customizable peels to serve a variety of skin care needs. Even sensitive and rosacea clients have a VI Peel that is suitable for them.
A VI Peel offers many benefits and can be used to treat many conditions:
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Chemical peels break down the top layers of skin cells. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing process and the production of new collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are two key proteins that give the skin its structure and elasticity. Loss of these proteins contributes to the formation of wrinkles. VI Peel is not effective for removing deep wrinkles or sagging skin.
Dark Spots and Discoloration
Chemical peels can help lighten areas of skin darkened by sun damage or skin conditions like melasma. One of the key ingredients in the VI Peel is Phenol. Phenol is one of the most effective ingredients used in chemical peels for treating freckles and discoloration.
Keratosis Pilaris
Some of the active ingredients in a VI Peel, such as salicylic acid help break down bumps caused by keratosis pilaris, a common condition in which dead skin cells clog hair follicles and produce bumps.
Acne
A VI Peel can be used to improve acne in a number of ways, including:
Salicylic acid, one of the key ingredients in a VI Peel, is also one of the best treatments for acne scars.
Chemical peels are typically appealing to those who are displeased with the tone and texture of their skin. If your skin imperfections are mild, and you are seeking to enhance your overall facial skin appearance without having to undergo a more invasive treatment with a relatively longer downtime, you may be an ideal candidate for a VI Peel which will exfoliate your skin surface and clear clogged pores. These peels can gently address chronic dry skin, fine lines, uneven pigmentation, mild acne, and acne scars. Our experts can customize the chemical formulation according to your specific skin condition.
Candidates for a VI Peel treatment are women and men who are interested in quickly improving mild to moderate skin imperfections. There are no age restrictions to undergo this skin treatment; as a matter of fact, teenagers who suffer from acne and acne scars can benefit greatly from a VI Peel. Patients should have realistic expectations of what a VI Peel treatment will accomplish. The solution is designed to address skin imperfections and very mild skin sagging. It cannot address severe skin laxity as a facelift would.
A chemical peel is not for everyone. Our experts might caution against a chemical peel or certain types of chemical peels if you:
The good news is that you have many chemical peel options if you are seeking a safe, non-surgical, non-invasive option for skin rejuvenation. At Peel Haus Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, our goal is to ensure that we meet all of your aesthetic needs. We offer the latest and most advanced chemical peels, so that we can provide you with a range of options to ensure you can achieve the appearance you want.
Facial Peels:
Choose from five medium-depth peels. You will see results in as little as 7 days. Our peels focus on brightening, tightening and clearing the surface of the skin revealing a clearer, more youthful complexion. Peels are safe for all and an average of 3 – 6 peels are needed to reach your desired result.
Body Peels:
First-of-its-kind, these peels target pigmentation, fine lines, acne on the body, scars, stretch marks and sagging skin. On average, a series of 2 – 3 peels is recommended.
Chemical peels at Peel Haus are performed in our DC office and customized for each patient. Your face will be thoroughly cleansed before the application. The solution is then thoughtfully applied to the face by the VI Peel specialist. An initial tingling sensation may be felt for those with more sensitive skin, but the numbing properties of the peel will kick in within a matter of seconds. Additional numbing agents are not necessary for this treatment as it is virtually painless. Cold air will be directed at the face after the solution application for added patient comfort.
There is no downtime after the VI Peel procedure. Actual peeling may last two to four days and can be easily managed. For the next two weeks, you should avoid any skin exfoliation, direct sun exposure, or touching or pulling of your skin as it heals. The peel works the best if you let it peel naturally. Once the skin has finished peeling and is fully healed, patients see visible improvements in their complexion. The skin appearance will continue to improve during the next four-six weeks. It will become firmer, clearer, smoother, and younger-looking. After a chemical peel of any depth, your skin may be red, tight, irritated or swollen. Follow our expert’s directions for sun protection, cleansing, and moisturizing. Be gentle and refrain from using any actives including retinoids for two weeks.

Why is the VI Peel better than laser treatments?
Any laser or IPL requires multiple sessions to achieve what the Vi Peel achieves in one session, with much less discomfort and expense.
How would the VI Peel compare to the Obagi Blue Peel or a TCA Peel?
The VI Peel is almost painless, and requires none of the skin pre conditioning required by those peels when used on skin types 4 to 6.
In addition, the VI peel has very few of the complications and hazards that usually come with those peels.
How many VI Peels can you do and how far apart should they be done?
For most patients, peels should be done three to four times a year starting at puberty to repair sun damage that is already present, and to avoid permanent scarring for those affected by acne. The frequency of the peel depends on various factors, and will be determined by your practitioner. For extremely damaged skin, the VI Peel can initially be done once a month to get quicker desired results.
How is the VI Peel different from other peels?
Without exception, obsolete peels of the past epitomize the “No pain, no gain” approach to skin care. Before the VI Peel the deeper the peel, the more painful, the more downtime, the better the results. The VI Peel is the first peel to combine the strongest and most effective acids, yet it’s virtually painless with little downtime.
How many treatments are required to show an improved look?
A single VI Peel will achieve significant repair and add a healthy glow to the skin. Some conditions like acne scars, pore enlargement and hyper pigmentation might require multiple applications. It is a restorative and painless repair of damaged skin, including sun damage and acne. Best of all, it is a true aging preventative for younger skin with no visible damage.
Will VI Peels results be long lasting?
Like everything else in life, skin needs maintenance. The VI Peel’s results will last as long as skin is maintained with the VI Derm Skin Care Line. The VI Peel should be performed three to four times per year.
What types of skin respond well to the VI Peel?
The many innovations that created the VI Peel combine to allow ALL skin types to enjoy the benefits of the peel. For the first time, African-American and darker skin types such as Asian and Latin patients can experience anti-aging and restorative skin repair previously unavailable.
How much preconditioning of the skin is required?
The VI Peel requires no preconditioning of the skin associated with older generation peels that can take three to five months.
Will it burn?
You will feel a tingling sensation for a few seconds which subsides almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, and numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan to cool the skin quickly.
How badly will I peel?
The skin peeling associated with the VI Peel is a light, fluffy peel that will start on day three and will generally be finished by the end of day seven. The peeling is easily hidden by moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible. The peel can be modulated by your skin care provider to produce a deeper, more aggressive peel, if necessary, depending on your skin condition.
What will I look like right after the VI Peel and during the next few days?
The skin will look slightly tan, yellow or red immediately after the peel. On days one and two the skin will feel slightly tighter, with no visible signs of having had a peel. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker. On approximately day three, you will begin to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth area and continue for two – four days. By day six or seven, you should be done peeling and the results are dramatic! If a more aggressive peel was performed, a secondary peel might occur around day seven.
What about normal activities after the VI Peel?
We recommend avoiding direct sun, tanning, and exercise with heavy sweating. Also avoid exfoliating, shaving and any products with active ingredients. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the peel.
What will the VI Peel do for my skin?
It tackles skin problems at the cellular level. Thanks to the concerted actions of its many acids and vitamins, it will help erase fine lines and wrinkles, shrink enlarged pores and build collagen and elastin which tighten skin. It is extremely effective in reducing or eliminating hyperpigmentation including melasma, the most difficult pigmentation issue to correct. The VI Peel also provides excellent results for acne, and acne scars.
How many peels are needed?
The peel may be repeated as often as every four weeks for damaged and problematic skin. Our recommendation for maintenance of average skin would be once every three months to prevent damage and aging. Your practitioner will evaluate your skin, as well as your goals and expectations and make an appropriate recommendation for ongoing skin care.
Can I wear makeup after the VI Peel?
While the long-term goal is to eliminate the need for makeup, it may be worn at any time after the peel solution has dried completely (two hours or more post peel).
What about the hands or chest?
The VI Peel is incredibly effective in removing sunspots from the hands, arms and chest and eliminating the wrinkles associated with sun damage on the décolletage. The peeling process is different and longer than for the face. Please ask your provider for more information.
How long will the VI Peel take?
Your appointment will take only about 20 minutes.
What kind of final results will I see after a single VI Peel?
It takes about four days after you finish peeling for the skin to return to its normal PH and to see the final effects. The skin will look luminous and glowing. Hyperpigmentation will be improved or eliminated, depending on the amount of damage. Tone and texture will be improved for a more youthful, radiant appearance.
What should be used on the skin in conjunction with the VI Peel?
The VI Derm™ Skin Care System should be used on a daily basis to maintain the results of the VI Peel.
Does the VI Peel make the skin thinner?
No. By sloughing off the old skin and forcing the body to recreate new skin at a faster rate in a sequence faster than its own rate, the skin actually thickens, stimulating the underlying structure to make more collagen and elastin.
Will my skin be more sensitive after the VI Peel?
The skin will be more sensitive during the peeling process itself. You may experience up to four days of sensitivity until PH of the skin is replenished.
Will the VI Peel tighten neck skin?
The skin on the neck responds well. The Vi Peel has proven to help improve texture and quality with gradual softening of the lines and some tightening effects. The peeling process and results are different from the face.
What other areas can the VI Peel be performed on?
The neck, arms, hands and chest all respond well to a Vi Peel.
Can I go in the sun after the VI Peel?
Sun exposure should be limited and VI Derm SPF 30 should be used liberally and reapplied after 2 – 3 hours throughout the day as needed. Direct sun should be seriously avoided during the peel process to avoid uneven exposure. After peeling is complete, you can enjoy moderate sun exposure, continuing regular skin care maintenance and daily sun protection.
What about exercise after the VI Peel?
Following your treatment, feel free to return to your usual activities. However, it’s important to avoid exercise or strenuous activities until you’ve washed off the VI Peel solution. This precaution is strongly advised to ensure the best results. Remember to keep the VI Peel on your face for a minimum of four hours and avoid intense physical activities or vigorous exercise for the first 24-48 hours after treatment. Sweating during this time can potentially impact the desired outcome of the VI Peel.
Can cold sore sufferers have a VI Peel?
Of course. In some cases, your physician may recommend medication prior to your peel. If you break out with a sudden cold sore the day of the peel, the VI Peel may eliminate the sore and medication can be started concomitantly.
Are teenage acne sufferers too young for the VI Peel and would it help their acne?
The peel is excellent for both adult and adolescent acne. We have effectively peeled acne patients as young as twelve years old. Results are quick and very impressive. Combined with a daily skin regimen, almost all acne cases can be successfully managed. Your provider has access to advanced protocols. Please note that treating acne scars will require a series of peels.
