PDO THREAD LIFT
Are you noticing early signs of aging in your face and neck areas, such as lines, wrinkles, or sagging skin? At Peel Haus, we offer PDO thread lifts in Washington, DC is an effective anti-aging, face-rejuvenating, and midface-volume-enhancing therapy. Though similar to a facelift in effect, the procedure does not involve surgery but instead utilizes PDO (polydioxanone) suture material for lifting a targeted area. PDO sutures have been used in the operating room for many years in surgeries, including open heart and plastic surgery procedures. Within four to six months, it is completely absorbed by the skin, leaving no scars behind. This repositions the facial and neck tissue to give patients a revitalized and more youthful appearance.
Benefits of PDO Thread Lift:
At Peel Haus, we use PDO Max Threads. Some companies offer dissolvable threads that are promoted for use as a Thread Lift, however PDO Max threads are distinguished by a number of criteria. In contrast to other PDO threads, PDO Max threads are FDA-cleared as a thread that comes from the distributor with the thread inside the insertion cannula device. PDO Max is one of only two companies that have received this FDA clearance. In addition, the “barbed” construction of PDO Max allows the threads maximum attachment to the underlying connective tissue and skin with a very low failure rate.
On the day of your procedure, after cleansing your face, numbing agents will be administered to the treatment regions. Some patients may receive a mix of a local anesthetic and a topical numbing cream to ensure their comfort during the entire therapy.
Using a temporary pen, the precise treatment locations are marked on your face. By marking thread placement, we may reduce the number of threads required to get the desired effects. These markes will be removed after the procedure.
After marking is complete and the treatment area is numb, the threading process will begin. The PDO thread is injected into the subdermal layers of the skin by a narrow, hollow cannula. The skin is lifted as the barbs on the threads grip onto loose tissue to reposition and tighten as the needle is withdrawn. Depending on the amount of work to be completed, this portion of the treatment can take 30 – 60 minutes.
Because a PDO Thread Lift is so customizable, the treatment can benefit almost anyone. While this procedure is safe for most skin types, skin tones, and ages, it is not for those who:
Those with moderate to severe jowling and neck laxity may not be ideal candidates since there is a limit to what threads can do. If you desire a complete lift, you should likely choose a classic facelift. Nonetheless, a thread lift will produce more noticeable results than Ultherapy, Thermage, and other radiofrequency energy-based technologies.
This minimally invasive procedure is performed in one of our comfortable in-office treatment rooms and does not require anesthesia. Before the PDO Thread Lift, which typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete, your provider will give the patient a local injection of lidocaine to numb the insertion site and is infused into the treatment area. The patient typically does not experience any pain during the procedure.
Pre-loaded syringes of PDO sutures make this process fairly quick. The PDO threads are inserted into the skin to produce a lifting effect. After the treatment, the patient’s face will feel numb as if you have had dental work performed. Most patients tolerate PDO thread lift very well.
Recovery and downtime following a PDO Thread Lift are minimal. Patients can expect to experience some minor bruising and swelling that will subside within 24 – 48 hours. Over-the-counter medications can help these symptoms. We recommend that patients sleep on their back for the first week or so following treatment. This prevents excessive pressure from being applied to the face. It is also recommended that patients refrain from pursing lips, rubbing the face, using a straw, or opening the mouth widely for 7 – 10 days after the procedure. Additionally, high-intensity workouts, saunas, and steam rooms should be avoided for the first few weeks following treatment. Most patients are able to return to work after 1 – 2 days, if not sooner, though there may be mild bruising or soreness still present.
PDO thread lift patients will notice an improvement in their appearance following the procedure, and the results will continue to improve over the next several days and weeks as the swelling subsides and the tissues heal completely. The full results, including plumping and increased elasticity, are typically achieved within one or two months following treatment. This can vary significantly based on the age of the patient and the rate at which the patient’s body produces collagen. Younger individuals manufacture new, healthy collagen at a faster rate and will notice improvements sooner.
How long results will last from your PDO Thread Lift procedure depends on various factors, including how quickly your body metabolizes the threads. Generally, the threads last for six months to a year, and younger people tend to see the results last for three to four years. On average, patients can enjoy their improved appearance for 12 to 18 months following a PDO thread lift. our practitioner may offer additional treatments, such as dermal fillers, neurotoxins, and other therapies, to enhance and prolong your effects.
