Achieving your weight loss goals is a big deal! But sometimes, having too much skin can make these accomplishments feel less significant. While excess skin can present challenges, solutions like body contouring surgery can help celebrate your transformation.
Introducing – thigh lift and reduction surgery or thighplasty in Washington DC – a procedure designed to ensure your new body is comfortable and confident.
What You Need to Know About Thighplasty Surgery
The appearance of your thighs can be affected by factors such as weight/muscle loss, sagging skin, and genetics. Fortunately, thigh lifts can help achieve a more toned and youthful appearance by eliminating excess skin and fat.
During the procedure, we use different incision patterns depending on the treatment areas, correction level, and preferences of the patient and doctor. An inner (mini) thigh lift with a single groin incision may be a good option for minimal correction!
About the Procedure
Overall, the plastic surgery operation takes between two and three hours. And we use general anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the process.
First, the surgeon makes small incisions to access and tighten the underlying tissue. Then, they’ll remove excess skin and fat – often using liposuction for refinement. The remaining skin is then repositioned and secured with discreet sutures, resulting in a smoother and more balanced appearance. And we may use drains to keep fluid from building up (if so, we remove them within days).
We prioritize minimizing visibility and scarring by offering multiple incision options. Our surgeon will suggest the most suitable approach considering your objectives and physical structure. Whether you’re looking for a classic groin-to-back-thigh lift, a more discreet inner thigh lift, or the inseam technique, we have options to suit your needs!
Benefits of Thighplasty
If sagging skin makes you self-conscious about your thighs, a thigh lift may help. By removing excess tissue and tightening the remaining skin, we can sculpt a slimmer figure and enhance muscle definition. This boosts patient confidence and allows them to enjoy a wider range of clothing styles.
Patients also appreciate the benefits of our advanced techniques, which enable us to strategically place incisions in easily concealable ways under clothing and swimsuits.
Ideal Candidate for Thighplasty in Washington DC
This procedure best suits people who can maintain a stable weight and have reasonable expectations for the results. In addition, patients should have excess tissue on their thighs, be in good health (without any medical conditions that could affect healing), and be committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle following the surgery.
What to Expect
Our staff will meet with you for an initial consultation before your procedure. The doctor will review your medical history, treatment choices, potential side effects, recovery time, cost, and limitations. And you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions during this visit!
Recovery and Aftercare
After thigh lift and reduction surgery (thighplasty) in Washington DC, you’ll receive pain medication to manage discomfort. But make sure to arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you after the procedure!
We’ll give you clear instructions on changing bandages, cleaning incision sites, managing drains, taking showers, and performing other aftercare tasks after surgery. And we’ll see you for follow-up appointments to ensure everything is healing perfectly.
Expect discomfort, especially in the first six weeks. During this time, support at home is vital. You can expect to:
- Take a week off from work and strenuous activities.
- Wear the compression garment day and night to avoid infection for two weeks.
- Not be able to exercise, do any heavy lifting (including young kids), or sleep on your stomach.
Typically, patients resume normal activities (like driving) in a week or two!
Cost of Thighplasty in Washington DC
The cost of thighplasty surgery varies based on the different forms and intensity levels required to meet each patient’s needs. We will cover all of this during your first consultation!
FAQ
Here are the most common questions we receive regarding thigh lift and reduction surgery (thighplasty) in Washington DC:
1. When will I see the results of my thigh lift?
Your legs will initially be contoured but swollen, bruised, and in compression garments. And it may take up to a year for some patients’ thighs to fully heal. Once the swelling goes down and the scars heal, you’ll notice slimmer, more youthful-looking thighs!
2. How long do the results of thighplasty surgery last?
You may notice some visible scars, but the results are long-lasting if you maintain a stable weight and stay physically active. (Typically, they are permanent, but the natural aging process plays a role.)
3. What are the risks?
Having a skilled team like ours perform a thigh lift is essential because the procedure is safe but complicated. After surgery, you risk infection, slow healing, fluid accumulation, and related side effects.
